Thank you very much for sharing. What I learned helming failed cybersecurity startup HeraSoft is commercial organizations require the corruptibility of their administrated networks as a feature. This is due to the inherent doubt within existing forced commercial systems. Why crypto: voluntary marketplaces ♥️☀️☮️🌈🏁
Aw, Jim, I have so many questions and so little "time". But, God bless you, on this beautiful Saturday in the South. I get brokenhearted sometimes thinking about this broken old world but I find that it prevents me from becoming too worldly, so theres the upside, right there. This Mean Old World, I think that's a nice song. Songs keep me working, keep me moving, those mysterious vibrations. I'm heading to Biloxi today to sing some songs for a bunch of people who are attending a "shrimp-tasting festival". Never been to one but it should be a good time in a good place. Be well, brother, I hope we can meet in person one day as you're one of my substack favorites. If not "in person" then in the Great Beyond. R
“The same thing goes for your communications providers. There was one, exactly one (1) single communications provider that tried to resist when the evil nasty ugly bureau rats wrote and the horridly wicked traitorous scum in congress passed the USAPATRIOT act”
True.
At the time of the constitutional convention there was only one mass communication system “the press”. Can you imagine how much freer America would be today if the First Amendment guaranteed "freedom of communication"? Thus granting to the Internet, the telephone system, radio and TV the same protections that the press have now?
Americans should demand freedom of communication. And an end to the FCC and all the US secret police domestic spying agencies.
“ Americans should demand freedom of communication.”
While I’d guess our hearts are in similar places, your phrasing here sounds to me too much like begging permission of the bureau-rats.
Much better to ignore their commands and demands, communicate in whatever ways you deem best for you and yours, and consider ways to defend yourself from any attacks they may launch against you for your non-compliance.
Perhaps you are far afield from the work in microeconomics by Austrian economists. When I say “demand” I refer to “supply and demand.” I refer to a free market demand for a desirable service.
I’m not really sure what I have ever written that would give you the impression that I would ever encourage anyone, especially any American, to ask permission of anyone. I certainly didn’t write any such thing in the current essay. Far from it, I wrote about our great American tendency to disobedience and to making equipment work for us even when it is intended to not be working - the flash hook trick with the phone that had no rotary dial.
I’m against asking permission from other people because people don’t rule the world. God does.
While I haven't thought it through, what I might mean by “demand” is a movement for a constitutional amendment that extends the 1st Amendment. Expands it to make it clear that “freedom of the press” meant freedom of all communication systems.
The Supreme Court should have ruled that way when the federal government began to take control of the telegraph system, then the telephone system, then the radio system, and on and on. But of course, the Supreme Court is mostly about increasing the power of government. Being itself a part of the government. It might be impossible to pass such an amendment. It might be too late anyway. You're probably right.
While I agree that those changes would be in a positive direction, I believe that any significant time, energy and attention spent on current political systems and issues is generally wasted.

Much better to spend our time and energy on spreading Natural Law and building networks and systems of voluntary cooperation to mutual benefit.
"....spend our time and energy on spreading Natural Law and building networks and systems of voluntary cooperation to mutual benefit."
I agree with that 100%. My only worry is that if we turn our backs on what the leftist government is doing, it will have the power to crush those networks and systems and it will use that power. I.e. we have an enemy that we cannot afford to ignore. We may need to challenge its control of society and the government, at least enough to limit it, if it's not too late.
You need to stop worrying. You should have faith in God. God says it hundreds of times in the Bible: do not fear, do not tremble, do not be afraid.
They don’t have that much power. God has all the power.
What you should do right now is go read Clausewitz on war. It wasn’t finished but it is a good book on the topic. Note that in his own words Clausewitz viewed it as unlikely that a rebellious people could be suppressed and their territory occupied with less than 20 soldiers, including logistics train, to one resistance fighter.
We have 250 million Americans who woke up in a home with a gun in it. The government has been making war on us for generations. Why? Because they don’t have five billion enemy occupying troops and they never will. They are not going to crush us.
And they are not “the government.” They abdicated government. They put us out of their protection. They make war on us. For it to be government, as defined in the declaration of independence, it has to derive its just powers from the consent of the governed. They no longer care about our consent. They lie and cheat at elections, every time. They have no honour. And therefore they have no just powers. They are not government, they are tyranny. And God told us to resist injustice. God sent Jesus to show us the truth, the life, and the way. Praise God. Amen.
I agree with your analysis, especially the necessity of keeping data backed up on thumb drives.
In natural disasters, such as hurricane Helene's furious beat down of North Carolina recently, many small businesses will go out of business not due to wind and rain damage...but because they failed to back up their data.
They lost their financial records, customer lists, supplier information, etc. and just will not be able to get back up and running.
One solution to this problem is for every small business to purchase one or more EMP resistant, waterproof, USB drives from the American Civil Defense Association (TACDA).
With Christmas approaching, they make great gifts for employees.
We created this thumb drive several years ago for just this reason.
For $50 or $70 each, it is a great business investment. We also include our disaster educational resources on the thumb drive you can study on your own time.

God is very angry.
Thanks Jim, but my comment was in reply to Rightful Freedom's comment, not to anything that you wrote.

Thank you for your advice. (I plan to quote that last paragraph in a Substack I intend to publish tomorrow, so thanks for that, too.)
