You are mistaken. The great commission is very clear. We are to take the gospel to the furthest reaches of God's creation and tell it to "every creature". Those who believe may be baptised. This is not a matter for discussion. I went over these points in some detail here:

Everything regarding theology is a matter for discussion. Your interpretation is not the only one made by intelligent people.
