Anathem is one book þæt needs be eaten more than once to be digested.

This read I felt another string to Teilhard, and as I read I wondered if Dan Simmons would get a reference or not. Then I wondered if Gregg Bear might be next.

As always, good read.

Thank you for your kind words and for reading my stuff. God bless you. Amen.

Teilhard's quote about growing old being like being increasingly penalised for a crime you didn't commit has a certain ring of authenticity. I'm also fond of his comment, "Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire." God's will be done. Amen. Yes, Teilhard says we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Which would be more fun if things were more humane around here. lol

I wasn't aware of Dan Simmons and his novel Hyperion until today. Interesting tales. Chaucer smiles. I was aware of Greg Bear but found the one novel of his I bought to be nearly unreadable and went down other paths to otherwhere. -smile-

I like the oak metaphor. It's useful. And I'm grateful for all the great book recommendations.
