I am not a fan of HG Wells. He was a part of the "managed society" idiocy at the end of the 19th Century and start of the 20th. He was not a good man.
There is a casting out articulation in Latin known as the "Vade Retro Satana" which was first composed on paper by Saint Benedict a long time ago. Its initials appear on the St. Benedict medallion. Its opening words are "Crux sacra sit mihi lux" and might roughly be translated as "Sacred cross always be my light" or "...my guide."
"Ansata" is evidently an anagram of Satana. I'm not going to go read that book.

Wells book is an indictment of the Roman Catholic Church.
